Old photo restoration in photoshop

 

Following are the steps to follow for old photo restoration:

• Use spot healing brush tool to remove spots from face
• 
  
  
  
  
• Use patch tool for more defecting areas (Select area and drag it)
• 
  
  
  
  
• Remove background and use select and mask (if needed)
• 
  
  
  
  
• Add black and white adjustment layer and create clipping mask
• 
  
  
  
  
• Add curve adjustment layer to adjust brightness
• 
  
  
  
  
• Smooth face skin carefully (I am using smudge tool to smooth you can use any other tool)
• 
  
  
  
  
• Add background layer (you can use solid, gradient or other background).
• 
  
  
  
  
• Add solid adjustment layer for skin color (choose skin color), change blend mode to ‘color’ and press (ctrl/cmd +I) to inverse layer mask.
  
  
  
• 
  
• Use brush tool gently to colorize skin (make sure your foreground color is white and you have selected layer mask).
• 
  
  
  
  
• Add solid adjustment layer for lip color (choose lip color), change blend mode to ‘color’ and press (ctrl/cmd +I) to inverse layer mask.
• 
  
  
  
  
• Use brush tool gently to colorize lip (make sure your foreground color is white and you have selected layer mask).
• 
  
  
  
  
• Double press on lip color layer to open ‘Blending options’  and adjust slider for better results.
• 
  
  
  
  
• Add solid adjustment layer for hair and eyes color (choose hair color), change blend mode to ‘color’ and press (ctrl/cmd +I) to inverse layer mask.
• 
  
  
  
  
• Use brush tool gently to colorize hair and eyes (make sure your foreground color is white and you have selected layer mask).
• 
  
  
  
  
• Add  white solid adjustment layer under eyes color (white color), change blend mode to ‘color’ and press (ctrl/cmd +I) to inverse layer mask. Use brush tool gently to colorize hair and eyes (make sure your foreground color is white and you have selected layer mask).

• Add ‘Selective color adjustment layer’ to adjust color.
• 
  
  
  
  
• Press (ctrl/cmd + B) to adjust color balance.
• 
  
  
  
  
• Press (ctrl/cmd + U) for hue and saturation.
•
